Vehicle Safety Recalls Week Highlights Opportunity for Dealers and OEMs to Close the Recall Gap
Springfield, MO — The U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is reminding drivers that Safe Cars Save Lives. NHTSA urges vehicle owners to check their vehicles for open recalls during Vehicle Safety Recalls Week, March 2–8, 2026.
During Vehicle Safety Recalls Week, RecallHQ is calling on automotive manufacturers and franchised dealers to take a more proactive approach to driving recalled vehicles into their service centers. With more than 35 million vehicles impacted by safety recalls in 2024 alone, approximately 57 million vehicles now remain unrepaired across the country.
For OEMs and dealers, the issue is not awareness. It is execution.
RecallHQ’s platform is built around a simple but powerful framework: IDENTIFY. NOTIFY. RECTIFY. A true set it and forget it solution that runs behind the scenes, identifying affected VINs, notifying owners through a compliant process, and driving recall service appointments without dealerships lifting a finger.
“NHTSA’s Vehicle Safety Recalls Week is an important reminder that safety recalls are not just compliance obligations. They are operational opportunities,” said Josh Holstein, Founder and CEO of RecallHQ. “When dealers and OEMs take a structured approach to identifying affected VINs, notifying owners through a compliant process, and helping them complete the repair, everyone wins. The customer, the brand, the dealership, and the roadway.”
A Call to Action for the Industry
Vehicle Safety Recalls Week is not just a consumer awareness campaign. It is a strategic moment for OEMs and dealer groups to evaluate their recall processes.
